Dr. Aaron R. E. Bishop

 

As a native of Columbia, South Carolina, Dr. Bishop was educated in the public schools of Richland County and graduated from Keenan High School in 1993. He received a Bachelor's of Arts in History and Minor in Education from Savannah State University (Savannah, GA), a Master's of Business Administration from Webster University (Columbia, SC), and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Columbia International University (Columbia, SC).

As a civic leader, Dr. Bishop is a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., a member of Prince Hall Masonic Order, and continues to serve on numerous boards and committees within the community. In 2010, Bishop was elected to the Richland County School District One School Board, where he formerly served 2-terms as Board Chairman. In 2012, The State Newspaper selected Dr. Bishop as a Top 20 Under 40 Professional. In 2014, he was chosen in the inaugural class of the Top 40 Under 40 by the Black Pages of South Carolina, and in 2015 was recognized by President Barack Obama for his work in pioneering the My Brothers' Keeper Initiative in South Carolina. In 2017, Dr. Bishop became a Chaplain with the Richland County Sheriff's Department, and in 2019 he became the Faith Director for The Cory Booker's 2020 Presidential Campaign. In 2022, Dr. Bishop became the recipient of the NAACP Community Service Award.

As a philanthropist and humanitarian, Dr. Bishop has devoted his time and resources to several projects that aim to improve citizens' lives. From annual gas giveaways, pandemic relief programs, and Thanksgiving food drives, to Juneteenth marches and celebrations, and Souled Out Saturdays, an initiative dedicated to celebrating and motivating small business owners, Dr. Bishop has demonstrated his belief in the power of collabrative community efforts and uplifting those around him.

Dr. Bishop is married to Dr. Jennifer Bishop, the proud parents of one son, Peyton.
